You know the trips people talk about for years? We build those. Rare experiences most people never get close to. Beautiful places to stay. Food worth turning up hungry for. You’ll come back with a story nobody else has. And the pictures to prove it.
Behind the Scenes.
Some doors take years to open. Watching Cuba's national ballet rehearse. A private sitting with one of Kyoto's last geishas. Access all areas pass to Cambodia's famous circus. You're not watching from the outside. You're in it. And when everyone's in it together, the group takes care of itself.
How it works.
Here’s what happens when you travel with us - how the trips are structured, how the groups work, and how the camera fits in (without taking over).
EXCELLENT Based on 26 reviews Posted on Tania van DijkTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Such a brilliant trip to Cambodia: it exceeded all my expectations. While I had expected to learn how to use my camera and (hopefully) take a few decent pictures, it was so much more than that. I did not expect that everything else would be taken care of: Reservations at some pretty amazing restaurants, tours by knowledgeable guides, behind-the-scenes access, pre-arranged transport, great accommodation etc. This meant that we could really focus on the photography while enjoying Cambodia beyond conventional tourism. Jon is a great teacher, encouraging and able to adapt to whichever level he is teaching. I thought I would feel completely out of my depth as a novice photographer, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of also learning from my fellow (more experienced) Escapees. If you are thinking about taking a trip with Creative Escapes, I can only tell you that you will not regret it: unreservedly recommended!Posted on Ansuya PuriTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just returned from a fantastic 10 day trip to Cambodia with Creative Escapes and my only regret is that I didn't book it sooner! A well thought out itinerary, which was fully planned by Jon, meaning all I had to do was charge up my camera and make sure I knew what time to meet the group every morning for another fun day of new experiences, cultural emersion, great company and plenty of laughs. We had an amazing group of fellow photographers on the tour, which made the trip even more memorable and I'm hoping to catch up with back home too. It's hard to pick the best part of the trip with it all having been so amazing; there was a good balance of seeing the tourist sights (albeit often from a much better perspective), to getting stuck in to a Cambodian cooking class and supporting a local NGO school, though I think the amazing surprise photo shoot with monks at Ta Prohm temple is something I'll never forget! I think Creative Escapes has curated the perfect photography tours, with a great blend of learning, cultural experiences and the luxuries of great accommodation just to remind us we're also on holiday- thank you for an amazing time!Posted on Angela LamTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. [Where Travel Becomes an Artistic Journey] I've had the pleasure of joining Creative Escapes on four remarkable adventures—Cuba, India, Prague, and the Scilly Isles—and each experience has transformed the way I see travel. Unlike conventional tourism companies, Creative Escapes offers immersive creative journeys guided by exceptional tutors who help you capture the essence of each destination through new skills and perspectives. Each trip has introduced me to a different creative technique or enhanced existing abilities, with patient, knowledgeable instruction that accommodates all skill levels. The accommodations are consistently special—characterful, comfortable places that reflect the local culture rather than generic hotels. As for the culinary experiences, Creative Escapes excels at finding those hidden gems where locals dine. Every meal feels like a discovery, with restaurants selected not just for excellent food but for their unique atmosphere and cultural significance. What sets Creative Escapes apart is their ability to blend creative learning, cultural immersion, and genuine comfort without feeling touristy.Posted on Courtney WatermanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. An Unforgettable Adventure in India I joined Creative Escapes on an incredible photography trip to India, and it was nothing short of amazing. From bustling streets to the serene landscapes, every moment was filled with breathtaking photo opportunities. The trip was meticulously planned to ensure we captured the essence of India—vibrant markets, stunning architecture, and intimate portraits of daily life. Whether it was the misty sunrise over the Taj Mahal, the rich colours of a holy festival or a hectic camel fair the experience was a visual feast. Beyond photography, one of the highlights was meeting fellow travelers who shared the same passion. The camaraderie, shared experiences, and exchanging creative perspectives made the journey even more special. With Creative Escapes you’re not just gaining access to photography knowledge but also connection to the culture, helping us engage with locals in a meaningful way. This wasn’t just a photography trip—it was an adventure filled with unforgettable moments, new friendships and a lot of fun. If you love photography, and are looking to discover somewhere new with new friends, book a Creative Escapes trip. You won’t regret it.

Creative Escapes runs small-group solo holidays with a camera. Since 2008, we have been building trips for curious, independent travellers who want to get properly close to a place – not just move through it. Small groups, boutique hotels, good food, and experiences most visitors never find. Japan, Cuba, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Sicily, Istanbul and Bhutan. The camera comes with you not because it’s a photography course, but because it helps you see more, notice more, and come back with something that actually feels like yours. Most guests travel alone. Around 65% come back. Creative Escapes has been featured in The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph, and The Wall Street Journal.
